Robin Hood Airport & Ryanair today celebrate one hugely successful year of flying together by giving away free return flights to new routes Barcelona (Girona) & Pisa!
Passengers checking in at Robin Hood Airport for today’s Dublin flight were treated to Ryanair birthday cake, and to celebrate the launch of 2 new routes to Pisa & Barcelona (Girona) from Robin Hood Airport from September 2006. Ryanair’s UK Sales Manager Karl Hogstadius was on hand to deliver a very special birthday gift to one lucky passenger.
John Steeples of Doncaster was travelling to Dublin this afternoon with his wife Michelle. John & Michelle are big fans of Robin Hood Airport, and this is not the first time they have taken advantage of Ryanair’s low fares.
One year ago today, the first Ryanair flight operated between Robin Hood Airport & Dublin, and John & Michelle Steeples were actually onboard the inaugural flight!
The timing is not coincidental, it just so happens that John shares his birthday with Robin Hood Airport, and is flying again to Dublin today to celebrate the occasion with a short break in Ireland. To help Mr Steeples celebrate his birthday in style, the Airport & Ryanair presented a pair of free flights to new destination Barcelona (Girona), which starts in October 2006. Better still, Mr & Mrs Steeples actually met 25 years ago this weekend, in Barcelona (Girona)!
Speaking today, David Ryall said: “Having Ryanair at the Airport has been a real boom during the first year of operation, and it’s great to be sharing the birthday celebration with Ryanair. We are also delighted that 2006 will see an additional 150,000 passengers flying between Pisa & Barcelona (Girona). If the response to Ryanair’s services continues at the current rate, perhaps we might see yet more Ryanair services into what has fast become the Airport of choice, east of the Pennines”.
Karl Hogstadius, UK Sales Manager for Ryanair said today: "We are delighted at the success of Ryanair’s Dublin route which has got strong inbound and outbound loads. Recognising the market demand for Ryanair flights from this region, we expect the new routes to Pisa & Barcelona (Girona) will be just as successful. We’re really pleased to be here today to celebrate 1 year of flying from Robin Hood Airport, and we’re sure Mr Steeples will have a fantastic time in Dublin, and indeed in Barcelona (Girona)".
